Solstice is the new Fiero

"The Solistice is the new Fiero"

I said this to some guys that worked at this company. Apparently this was an offensive statement.

I don't know what the big deal was all about.
I have always liked the Fiero. It was a cool hot rod from the mid 80s. Sort of a two seater mid engine hot rod sport pony that looked unlike anything else. Maybe a bit of Euro/Italian influence, but it was more distinct. Very American spirit. It is a cool car. A little small for me to drive. I would more likely go with a GTO or a 442 if I wanted a hot rod. There is not much of a modern equivilant to that, unlike the Fiero.

The Solstice is a sharp car too. It seems to be a bit underpowered though. It took the Fiero a year before the beefed up the engine to a hotter v6. But it is priced very competetively which is great to see. And a convertible!! Pontiac has pretty much remembered what people like.

Pontiac makes cool cars. GTO, Bonneville, Fiero, Firebird, Parisienne, Grand Prix. I find it odd that comparing a highly regarded Pontiac line from the 80s to a new Pontiac line would be offensive to some people.

If I were to buy with a larger budget, I would prefer something closer to a full size. I do dig the new Marauder, although it is well outside of my price range but man does it move. It is a hot rod with the beefed up V8.

Yeah, they were offended!! Remember the Fiero caught on fire. It had problems. Wasn't there some strange thing with the engine and the driver's seat...I can't remember... I had a friend who tried to keep his going and gave up. Not fun to work on. That may be why you don't see many around anymore.

Hey now, the Fiero was cool!! And maybe the new Solstice is the new Fiero. How do they know if the Solstice is prone to burn up or not?

I'm not sure about that Marauder. It seems to have a bit of an identity crisis going on. Is it a Lincoln, is it an early-90's Toyota, is it a Pontiac? Or is it blend of those with a Taurus as a nursemaid?

I'd take a late-90's Crown Vic, especially the Police Interceptor model, over the Marauder (which is essentially the Vic's younger brother). Though the Marauder apparently has some top-notch engine improvements over the Vic.

There would be a certain irony in a car named "Solstice" occasionally catching fire. Well, there is as long as no one is hurt.

The Marauder compared to the Police Interceptor Crown Vic is hotter in terms of power and more pimp in terms of luxury. The Fire Chief has a hot pimp Marauder with beautiful rims. That is the kind of city I want to live in. Nothing better than knowing you can burn rubber if necessary, but your normal state of ride is big pimpin'.
