a few pix

A sign in the employee bathroom of United Produce on Produce Row on North Broadway and Saint Louis.

A nice sign welcoming American customers informing us that they speak English, and for those here who are not used to English, they also speak "American too." This was seen inside a Mexican grocery in Maplewood. I asked the clerk if he spoke both Spanish and Mexican.

Another sign in downtown Maplewood.

What was the response to the question as to whether the clerk spoke "Mexican?"

He smiled and laughed. The place makes great tamales.

This goes out to anyone who drove down the Fyler viaduct about 25 or 30 years ago. For the first 10 years of my life there was graffiti on the wall that said Candy Cookie Goin' Strong. Does anyone remember this? Does anyone know what it meant?

The RAVEN sign is for a batterers' intervention program - the courts often order abusers to attend RAVEN once there is an order of protection filed.
But I don't know nothin' about no cookies.
