plenty o updates and more

I got a lot coming up at the Royale, so I will post here. There is much to explain on top of this, but I likely will be taking a bit of break from blogging over the holidays- my bad, but there is much going on. I have a few projects lined up for next year, and I will cover that in a future post, but I will likely be blogging a bit less on this site for a while. Don't worry, I will still be posting some for I won't be able to help it.

Here is the Royale update:

I New Year's Party- Black and White

"I love my baby like a school boy loves his pie
Like a kentucky colonel loves his mint'n rye"

That is what it is about at the Royale. Love'n pie and rye. And loving it on a New Year's is that kind of time. So yes, here at the Royale we are having a NY party. And we have only a limited number of spots to come down for the night. We are not charging and entrance fee for the evening, but we will have a guest list for the night. The theme this year is black and white. Na-do's Delight will be performing from 7-9 for dinner and we will have DJ spins w/ Sean Savoy and more all night.

We are going to be holding spots for the door for a guest list, so please respond now to the email if you would like to be on the list. Priority is give to people who put down a haiku, poem or story with their reservations.

II Caucus on Jan 3
The Royale will be holding it's first Presidential Caucus on January 3rd, the same night as the Iowa Caucus. The democratic event of a caucus is quite participatory and it will begin at 8pm and participation is open to anyone who is planning on voting for the Democratic ticket in their state's primary. Even if you don't plan on voting Democratic, please come down and make sure all is on the up and up for this vote to be put forward by the Royale. The caucus will begin at 8pm on January 3rd.

I remember attending the 1992 Caucus for the Democratic Party in, yes, Missouri. I was a wee 19 years old and was stuck in a room with a bunch of people at Meramec College trying to figure out what the hell was going on. There were people forming groups for Paul Tsongas, Jerry Brown and somehow Bill Clinton pulled it out. It was all a very fascinating process and it is kind of sad we don't do this anymore in Missouri. So please come down to the Royale and participate in our Caucus. Perhaps I will go to the Convention and try to place our vote as the delegate representing the Royale for the City of Saint Louis.
III Xmas in Darfur Dec 23rd at 5pm
We are showing a screening of the film Xmas in Darfur on December 20th here at the Royale. Here is the word from
"As most of you know (as many of you helped pay for it!), this time last year
Jim Milak, Ryan Faith and myself went off to the border of Chad and Sudan to
shoot a little documentary about the crisis in Darfur. Along the way, we met
with rebels, refugees, and the people who love them. Ultimately, we came
back with more questions than answers, but one thing we did discover is that
everybody's got a heart of gold. But this raises another question... "so
what?"

This month we're going to show a rough cut of the film in three cities, and
we hope you'll join us. If you can't make it, please do us a favor and pass
the info on to someone who you think can. Despite the generous donations of
friends and family alike, we're still pretty far in the hole, financially
speaking, and proceeds from each of the screenings will go toward completion
of the film.
