Sweet time of year

Egad- I love the holidays, but it presents such temptations to me.

It did not start well in my world of temptations. So I will admit it. I have a problem. I love sugar too much. On the Halloween holiday weekend I ate candy. A lot of candy. My diet the day of Halloween started with peanut butter cups and continued through sugar based foods the two days after Halloween when it all ended after a Day of the Dead party. I had eaten real food periodically over that binge, but most of my intake involved the cocoa bean.

So I got sick. Very sick on that Saturday after Halloween. After my three day binge I had thrown up. A lot. Oh, it was nasty. The final sweet culprit was a caramel apple rolled in chocolate chips. I reasoned that it was okay for apples are healthy. I knew that was bs. I was nearly in need of a doctor after that apple. I need an intervention.

My grandmother is not helping. She only wants to feed me sweets. She will order desserts and insist that I eat them. When I am in her apartment changing lightbulbs she will try to pack a meal for me made only of bon bons, chocolate and other candies. I usually can hold out, but I love pie. And peanut butter cups. And cookies.
Life is a struggle.

That happens every year to me (and many) as well. Tried to detox after Thanksgiving vacation. Told myself "no sweets, caffeine, or booze for a week" because felt like total garbage by that Sun night. Only made it two and a half days.

Why aren't there more desserts in the Royale?

Maybe you should try switching to sugar-free desserts for awhile. Not only do most of them taste bad, excessive consumption has a laxative effect, and most folks don't like that. That might train you to stay away from the sweets.

Oh, I could easily write dozens of posts about my torrid relationship with the sugar free goodies over the years. I know all of the substitutes. I have been subject to the effects, and let me tell ya- it ain't fun at all. But I will spare the readers of this blog from reading about this.
