I have another new crush

So Lily Allen. I am sorry. I got a new Crush.

I have been listening to a lot of MIA lately. I have listened to her off and on for a while now, but I have gotten deeper into the album lately. She is the Sri Lankan version of a hardcore hip hop lyricist with beauty and just fun fun music. It is sort of pop, hip hop and world.

I am a total sucker. First, MIA has a tune, Paper Planes, that samples the Clash song Straight to Hell(which already might be one of the best songs/lyrics ever.) The Clash album, Combat Rock, was the first cassette I ever bought. I listened to that tape over and over on my walkman while I sold papers on the corner.

Secondly her lyrics are just fun and the music just pops!

Come on! References to pirates, the KGB, bombs and guns! MIA's vision of the world is sort of jaded- not surprising in this new policy of constant world war on terror. How can I not love cute pop music that includes sounds of the racking of firearms, but also gun blasts? And all to a Clash beat? Is this wrong? I am sorry, I am a product of society. I love it. So dreamy.

And then of course she is just fine. I didn't even know what she looked like until now. And now that I dug a little about her for this crush note, I found out she is a daughter of a the Sri Lankan Tamil activist/militant!! Oh heavens! It is so right.

So if Lily Allen won't marry me, maybe Miss MIA might. Maybe I should take her out for a proper tea and then go pop some caps!
